AI Scribe

Many of the care providers at our facility use an A.I. Scribe. In a medical practice, the role of a scribe is to provide the service of creating the visit note on behalf of the care provider, enabling the care provider to focus on interacting with the patient with less distractions and less time needed for documenting the visit. With an A.I. scribe, the service is the same, without the need for another person present in the room.

The use of a scribe or A.I. scribe service lowers the documentation burden and improves efficiency and patient-physician interaction1.

As a patient, you have the right to choose whether to consent to the use of this service during your visit; your care provider is required to confirm your consent prior to using an A.I. scribe during your visit.

If you consent to the use of the A.I. scribe service (tali.ai) during your visit, you accept and acknowledge that:

  • The audio recording of your visit is not retained once the transcript is completed.
  • The transcript of your visit is retained indefinitely, accessible only by your care provider and the tali.ai service. The transcript cannot be edited.
  • The transcript of your visit may be used to analyze and improve the service for future visits.
  • Your consent will be documented in your chart.
  • To exclude a specific visit or withdraw your consent (PRIOR TO THE VISIT), please speak to your care provider.

If you do not consent to the use of the A.I. scribe service (tali.ai) during your visit, your visit will proceed as normal, without it’s use.

Even if you have consented to the use of the A.I. scribe service, you can request that your provider not use it during a specific visit. While the scribe service is very effective at excluding non-clinical information from the visit note, you can request that your provider mute the service during specific parts of the visit or to exclude off-record discussion – your provider can start and stop the service as needed, or mute the service as needed. Appropriate safeguards are in place to protect the privacy of the visit transcript, we respect that some patients may have a heightened need for privacy or additional concerns regarding the use of this service.

The AI scribe application only collects personal health information that is verbally discussed during the visit. This information is only retained in the form of a text transcript; the audio recording is deleted once the transcript is complete. The scribe application does not access the electronic health record or collect any information without instruction from the healthcare practitioner.
